Spring has finally sprung in Wisconsin which only means one thing: CrossFit competitions are in full swing! The warmer weather allows many gyms to open their garage doors, let the fresh air in, and host some unforgettable competitions.
Here at Lozen we encourage all athletes - no matter their level - to give competing a try. When you compete, it does a few things for you. First, it gives you something to train for. The Open has come and gone which could have you feeling sluggish to get into the gym because you may not have your mind set on a specific goal but knowing that you have a competition on your horizon gives you a little extra motivation to get into the gym.
Secondly, it pushes you to get out of your comfort zone. We all know that comfort zones can be our worst enemy. Much of your growth comes from stepping outside of those lines.
Thirdly, it gives you the chance to meet some of the most amazing people who are obsessed with CrossFit just like you and I. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of having people you just met cheering for you mid-workout. I can say with complete confidence I have made some of the greatest friends while competing at local competitions.
And lastly, the all around experience is something that can’t quite be duplicated. At the end of the day, you meet some amazing people, you got to workout, you possibly hit a new PR, and you most definitely leave having learned something new about yourself.
Now that I have gained your interest in competing, you’re probably wondering which competition to sign up for. So, here’s a list of our favorites!
Femme Royale at CrossFit Fort Atkinson
June 22nd, 2019
This is a team of 2 all female competition. We had six Lozen athletes compete last year and they all agreed it was one of the best competitions they have competed in. We can’t wait to get back this year! They have three divisions: RX, 50/50, and fun. This is a great competition for all levels!
Cooler by the Lake at BrewCity CrossFit
June 19th, 2019
This is an individual competition open to both male and female athletes. They have an RX division and an intermediate competition so this competition is for more experienced athletes. This is a well rounded and well run competition that will challenge you on every aspect of CrossFit. I also heard they give out beer to the podium winners (Cheers!)
Granite Games Throwdown at CrossFit Waukesha
September 14th, 2019
This is a team of 3 competition that guarantees you and your teammates four total workouts! They have an intermediate division and a scaled division which allows for newer CrossFit athletes to compete! The GG Throwdowns give you the opportunity to put your score in on a local-event AND on a worldwide leaderboard! Registration has not opened up yet, but when it does you will want to sign up your team ASAP!
